This website privacy policy describes how the Ivor Gurney Society protects and makes use of the information you provide when joining as a member.  In this respect the Web Manager will act as the Data Controller.

If you are asked to provide information when using this website, it will only be used in the ways described in this privacy policy.

We gather and use certain information about individuals in order to provide services and to enable certain functions on this website.  The lawful basis on which we gather your personal data is Contract (You enter into a contractual relationship with the Ivor Gurney Society and consent to our processing your personal data for the purposes outlined below).

We retain all membership information unless you ask us to delete it. You have the right and ability to delete all information we hold about you (see below).

This policy is updated from time to time. This is the latest version.

What data we gather

We may collect the following information, depending on your consent:

  • Contact information including address, telephone, and email address
  • Demographic information, such as postcode

A unique membership number will be assigned to you and recorded. We will also collect the following information:

  • Subscription and or purchase payments (either from PayPal or the Secretary of the Society).

How we may use data

  • For our own internal records
  • To improve the services we provide
  • To contact you in response to a specific enquiry
  • To send you emails or Ivor Gurney publications

We do not use cookies.

Data storage

We will never lease, distribute or sell your personal information to third parties.

Any personal information we hold about you is stored and processed under our data protection policy, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (2018).
If you joined The Ivor Gurney Society, or purchased goods from the Ivor Gurney Society prior to April 1st 2018, we acknowledge your consent for us to store personal information.  Members joining after this date or clients purchasing goods can register their consent (or not) when completing an application form or when joining on-line or when purchasing goods.

Security

We will always hold your information securely.

To prevent unauthorised disclosure or access to your information, we have implemented electronic security safeguards.  The site has an SSL certificate and all data sent from the website is encrypted.

We also follow stringent procedures to ensure we work with all personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (2018).

If we are made aware of any data breach then we will inform you if we are able to do so.

You have a right to contact the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) if you think that there is a problem with the way we are handling your personal data.
